Deaths
Mrs. E. M. Littlejohn
The funeral service of Mrs. Ella M. Littlejohn, who passed away at Lampman Hospital following a severe stroke, while visiting her brother, Will, at Lampman on Tuesday, October 3rd, was held from St. Andrew's United Church, Arcola, and the remains laid to rest in the Arcola Cemetery. The service was conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. H. Black, while the address was given by Brigadier H. C. Habkirk of the Salvation Army, Winnipeg, a life long friend of the family.
The pallbearers were six nephews: Archie, Fred and Dan Sinclair, Orval, Melval and Russell Creighton.
The late Mrs. Littlejohn was born in Marriposa township, near Lindsay, Ont., June 9th, 1878, the eldest daughter of the late Archibald and Mary Ann Sinclair. In 1892 the family moved to Glasston, North Dakota and on December 11, 1894, she married Albert Littlejohn. In 1904, the family moved to what is now Browning, Sask., and homesteaded, experiencing all the difficulties of pioneer life. In 1906 they bought a farm owned by I. Cross 2 miles north-west of Arcola, where they resided until 1934, when they moved to Winnipeg.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three daughters; Mrs H. Wood (Myrtle) and Mrs. A.D. Marsh (Fledda) both of Sault St. Marie, Ont., and Capt. Ruth Littlejohn, recently appointed assistant matron of the Canadian General Hospital Unit No. 15, in Italy. Three grandchildren: Miss Fern Wood of Sault St. Marie, Ont., Glen Wood of Montreal, Que., and Sgt. Lorne Marsh of the R.C.A.F. in England. Two sisters, Mrs. E.A. Creighton of Creelman, Sask., and Miss Pearl Sinclair of Arcola; two brothers, Wm. J. Sinclair of Lampman and Ed Sinclair of Roche Percee, Sask. A sister, Mrs T. Z. Stull, of Carstairs, Alta., predeceased her in January, 1942.
